TVIP COFDM Radio Camera
TVIP has become a major contender for urban law enforcement and battlefield video surveillance at a much lower cost than has been previously been possible with bespoke single channel per carrier (SCPC) links. As a derivative of WIFI they offer TVIP addressed packet transmissions allowing multiple cameras per link, packet acknowledgement and return camera control.
The OFDM modulation spreads the energy of the transmitted packets across the frequency band and this has proved resilient to multipath fading by reconstituting the video form the surviving spectrum.
For civil routes controlled by the standard regulatory specification IEEE 802 11a, b and g a high gain pitch, dish or compressed omni antenna is supplied. For Law enforcement and Military applications which share protected frequency bands high power
SSPAs may be added to extend range for covert and battlefield missions. The Equipment has a threshold of 95dBm at 6Mbs, and a 6-10dB margin over this is recommended for mobile links.
High quality IP cameras are available from all the major suppliers using 6 – 8 Mbs JPEG compressions for 802 11g. The cameras have an IP 10-100 base T RJ-45 connector which connects directly to the microwave link. When multiple cameras are deployed an IP router precedes the link allowing separate subnet IP address for each camera.
Voice / data over IP (VOIP) may use an analogue device with a VOIP/RS232 generator or for voice alone an IP telephone with IP-100 base RJ45 output is recommended.
In the special case when a group of analogue cameras are deployed, their video may be stored on a DVR and the DVR output interfaces with the IP 10-100baseT connector of the router/radio. The DVR offered also pass the RS232 or RS485 PTZ control signals.
